Best grass seed to lay down in desert?
I live in the high desert (antelope valley) in California. It is ususally very dry, hot and in the winter it can get pretty cold. What is the best grass seed to plant for this such climate. How long is the germination period for buffalo grass. Can I cut the grass before it germinates.?
My back yard has Buffalo grass rather than St Augustine. It is a large yard and the buffalo grass is hardier in the heat of Central Texas.

How long does it take grass seed to sprout up?
I planted grass seed 15 days ago and have watered, done everything right and it has yet to grow at all. No sign of life. The bag said a 5 to 7 day whatever its called period to grow. I think it is a tall fescue. So, is it a bad batch maybe or would you guess it will come up soon?
